We are not afraid: But can love conquer all?

By Josh Coates Yet another man decided the world simply wasn’t fair and that it was time for him to take matters into his own hands today. He got in his car and drove to the seat of power in the UK to teach us all a lesson. Unfortunately for him he just came across as a pathetic coward who needlessly took the lives of three innocent people and injured around many others. Luckily for him he also died. He...

Another Mother’s Son: Film Review

By Linda Marric @linda_marric In Another Mother’s Son, Jenny Seagrove plays a widow shopkeeper living in Nazi occupied Jersey during World War II. The film is a well meaning piece of historical drama, but sadly for its makers, this messy production is let down by way too much schmaltz and what can only be described as an overly descriptive narrative. Seagrove stars as Louisa a defiant woman who risks her own life and that of those nearest and dearest to...

Women drinking beer: Are we amending or perpetuating negative stereotypes?

Back in 2015 The LadBible launched a social experiment aimed at "restoring our faith in humanity" and subliminally quashing negative stereotypes around race and social status. They filmed a guy walking around Manchester dropping a wallet in front of the public to see how they would react, finding all the unsuspecting suspects weren't utter arsewipes after all and returned it like good little citizens. Modern journalism, hey. The problem with the stunt wasn't the evident lack of editorial creativity, but the fact...

In the last few decades what is considered acceptable office dress code has changed considerably; according to a 2016 survey released by OfficeTeam, half of senior managers believe their workers wear less formal clothing than they did five years ago. For better or worse, notions of ‘acceptable work attire’ are changing and more people are wearing denim to work. Even Starbucks have released a lookbook that references selvedge denim as suitable attire. Does this mean denim is in danger of...
