Johnson says he’s safe after giving ‘vintage’ answers to partygate questions
The PM says he is confident he has enough support within his party.
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is a British politician and writer serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since July 2019. He was Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs 2016-2018 and Mayor of London 2008-2016. Johnson has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015 and was previously MP for Henley from 2001 to 2008. He has been described as adhering to the ideology of one-nation and national conservatism.
The PM says he is confident he has enough support within his party.
A snap opinion poll suggests 59 per cent of Britons believe he should step down, including over a quarter of 2019 Conservative voters.
"If he's suspended from the House, he's out. That's it," Chris Bryant told Sky News.
"I left the BBC after 25 years during lockdown. There was never any question of a leaving party. We all knew it would be against the rules."
"That's the elitist culture Boris Johnson is responsible for," wrote Zarah Sultana MP.
"She is very good, so naturally he despises her", Ian Dunt pointed out.
“I’ve made my point and my position very clear to the Prime Minister: he does not have my support," the MP said.
There was no mention in her report of The Winner Takes It All and other Abba songs reportedly heard blaring from the Downing Street residence.
"While people stayed at home to protect the NHS, the Prime Minister was engaging in drinking and debauchery that makes a mockery of the sacrifices each and every person made.”
