One worker has said people panic-buying have “directly taken food off the table” of his wife and son, as many struggled to commute without any fuel.
"Sometimes I wonder if the character of John Redwood is a truly dedicated man creating one of the longest lasting pieces of performance art ever," wrote one Twitter user.
"Britain's panic buying/ petrol pumps are dying/ Said Brexit would be fine and turns out they were lying."
Thousands of petrol stations have run out of fuel with motorists facing long queues and panic buying.
