A spontaneous vigil – which followed the kidnap, rape and murder of Ms Everard, 33, by serving Pc Wayne Couzens – but the Met’s policing was heavily criticised after women were handcuffed on the ground and led away by officers.
“Women are being murdered just for being women. All we wanted was a space to collectively grieve and express anger, but this was denied to us. Instead, police officers used physical force to police our emotions, silence us and shut down this important space.
"Met Police: reason we didn’t initially probe Downing St parties is we don’t do retrospective Covid inquiries Also Met Police: we’re charging 4 people with breaking Covid restrictions while attending a vigil more than a year ago to protest a murder committed by 1 of our officers."
“Last March, women’s voices were silenced. Today’s judgment conclusively shows that the police were wrong to silence us," Reclaim The Streets said.
A year on from Everard's murder, a woman is still killed by a man every three days in the UK.
A new initiative has been launched to reassure women after Sarah Everard's death. It hasn't gone down well.
"Nice to see crimes against Jaffa Cakes are viewed more seriously than assaults against women," wrote one exasperated Twitter user.
More than 1,000 complaints were made after his comments during a radio show.
