Trian services were disrupted by the action, which comes almost a year after the RMT held its first strike in the same dispute.
Mick Lynch has accused the Conservative government of “corrupting business” as fresh Christmas strike action is announced.
"You just parrot lines from employers and parrot lines from the government," Eddie Dempsey said.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union had been due to stage 24-hour walkouts on Saturday and next Monday and Wednesday.
Rail strikes are planned for October 1, 5, and 8, threatening travel chaos for passengers.
