The UK helped develop new border checks as part of the EU - then, with Brexit, asked to become subject to the new system.
Huw Pill said Brexit has reduced trade between the UK and Europe which has had a knock-on effect on labour, productivity and prices.
“The problem for both the Prime Minister and the Labour leader is that when it comes to Brexit, even their own voters don’t agree with them."
It has been argued that by taking a tough line on freedom of movement, the Labour leader has prevented another Brexit election from happening.
"It was a confidence trick on the British public, the majority of whom now realise that they have been had", William Keegan said.
