Boris Johnson says he does not want to resign and will stay on if the membership backs him
The outgoing prime minister told Lord Cruddas over lunch at Chequers on Friday he wishes he could "wipe away" his resignation.
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is a British politician and writer serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since July 2019. He was Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs 2016-2018 and Mayor of London 2008-2016. Johnson has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015 and was previously MP for Henley from 2001 to 2008. He has been described as adhering to the ideology of one-nation and national conservatism.
The outgoing prime minister told Lord Cruddas over lunch at Chequers on Friday he wishes he could "wipe away" his resignation.
“You all ought to be careful about the way you use language," the prime minister's father said.
"Jesus Christ. I saw this over the weekend and thought it was a deepfake video. Turns out it is real," wrote one person.
It comes as over ten thousand Conservative members have signed a petition demanding Boris Johnson is added to Tory leadership race ballot paper.
The outgoing prime minister was pictured with machine guns and grenades as he visited Ukrainian troops in Yorkshire.
"Now the Daily Mail has taken up the baton of agitating for Johnson (the Express took a similar line a few hours ago).Tories in deep deep trouble."
"Sums up Johnson perfectly. Johnson failed. The Tories failed. Johnson Out Today," wrote one person in response the MPs comments.
"Starmer wished Johnson and his family well.Johnson responded by calling Starmer a human bollard. You want to talk about graceless, compare & contrast?"
Theresa May has often criticised her successor over his attitude and policies, and today she did not forgive and forget.
