The Brexit minister was defending himself against an LBC caller who accused him of "lying" to the public about quitting the EU.
"Yet another lie to desperately justify Brexit from the Victorian hatstand," wrote one bemused social media user.
"When Mrs Sturgeon stands up and says Boris Johnson is the greatest leader this country has ever had, I will start saying nice things about the Scottish Government."
He also claimed that Russia's invasion showed the importance of "getting away from the wokery that has beset society".
