PMQs Sketch 20th July – Oh Maggie I couldn’t have tried anymore

I wasn’t sure male (and female, they are a broad church these days) Tories would be having naughty urges about May yet, and would have to make do with vivid memories of Thatcher for the time being. Our new PM stumbled over her words and reminded me of a fussy aunty, when unexpected visitors have turned up, and hadn’t taken her Xanax this morning. When May finally ended the session she blew out her cheeks, relieved that her distant cousins...

Alex Lodge: Weekly Report Vol 46

By Alex Lodge (@alexlodgemusic | Insta @alexlodgemusic7) Alex Lodge is a music supervisor for film, TV and advertising at Thirty Two.  It’s sunny so the logical thing would be to bang out loads of bait summer tunes, but obviously I’m not going to do that. We start with an old track from The Gaslamp Killer that I first heard on a CDR demo I got sent by his management about a decade ago. Still remember how blown away with it...

Women In Politics: Why Can’t I Hear The Feminists Cheer?

By Deborah Hodge Hilary Clinton is set to be the first female American President and Theresa May has snuck in from nowhere to become the second female British Prime Minister. I have to be honest, even though I stood for London Mayor in 2016, I had no clue who she was until recently but as I read more about what she stands for, my stomach is sinking. It was very nearly a two woman race until Andrea Leadsom blurted out “I...

Vladimar Putin claims evidence of bear DNA found in the hair and claws of the Russian Olympic Wrestling squad were planted by US agents and stated events were typical of ‘US led political propaganda’. Putin commented: “I refute all claims made by the International Olympic Committee. I have personally entered the cages of our Wrestlers and tested them myself and can confirm there is no evidence of bear DNA. Not either on their clothes or their chains. This is another...

Hate crime is defined as an offence, perceived to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards someone based on a personal characteristic. Scotland Yard deputy commissioner Craig Mackey said: “It does appear that the...

Video – Boris accused of telling lies during Kerry press conference

An American reporter put the new foreign secretary Boris Johnson on the spot during a press conference with John Kerry, the US Secretary of State. The journalist said Boris has been guilty of telling "outright lies" as he and Kerry both squirmed in front of the cameras. Kerry said Boris was of “considerable intellect” and “a very smart and capable man”. But the American news outlets who have travelled across the pond with Kerry didn't seem as friendly. They grilled Johnson...
