Trust me, I don’t even know what I earn

By Darragh Roche It's not often MP s have the moral high ground when it comes to money. They get paid by the taxpayer, claim expenses for silly things and provide questionable value for money. But when a Commons committee put some simple questions to the European boss of Google, the politicians won a rare victory. People are already angry at Google for apparent tax avoidance but Matt Brittin's claim that he didn't know his own salary was beyond belief....

VIDEO – “Racist Trump” by Peter Serafinowicz

By Joe Mellor, Deputy Editor Comedian Peter Serafinowicz has done it again, and harder than ever. His third Trump video comes on the back of "Cockney Trump" and "Posh Trump." He pulls no punches as he used his own voice to say what Trump "really means".  It is clear Mr Serafinowicz is totally fearless in his pursuit of the Republican candidate. Watch Video Here

Google rejects claims they censored search results for Conservative Party

By Joe Mellor, Deputy Editor Conspiracy theorists have claimed that Google has censored search results for the Conservative party, even though autocomplete results for the party are blank. Google suggests common searches for all of the other major political parties, usually not very complimentary, but nothing appears for searches for “Conservatives are” or “Tories are.” If you do the same search replacing Labour for Conservative suggested searches bring up “…finished”, “a joke” and “right wing.” For the Liberal Democrats the...

VIDEO – Donald Trump Speech…In a Cockney Accent

By Joe Mellor, Deputy Editor Here is a video of a Donald Trump speech, where he spouts off about whatever appears in his mind, nothing new there. However, in this clip a cockney accent replaces his voice. No words were changed, which makes it all the more shocking. Enjoy...if that's the word I am looking for. The BBC is Only Interested in One Thing…Itself

By Steven Topple  2016 marks 80-years since the BBC’s first Royal Charter expired – and the issues surrounding its decadal renewal in 9 months are as tempestuous as they have ever been. The news yesterday that “Auntie” will be campaigning for the over-75s to voluntarily give up their free licence, in a bid by the organisation to rake back some of the £700 million it will incur in costs by 2020 (after the Government forced it to suck-up the expense...

Technology might change how we communicate, but the PR industry is more relevant than ever before

There are many industries that have faced dramatic digital disruption and yet still, the changes they are enduring remain only in their infancy. While we are all, for instance, stunned at the growth of Uber and the disruption to the black cab and minicab industry, with driverless cars on the horizon, the disruption has not stopped yet. The media, both in terms of the press and its accompanying publicity/communications industry, has also experienced well-documented change, and while newspaper publishers may...

Would we really give a toss, if she wasn’t a female Kate Moss?

By Dani Porter, Literary Editor Ah, you can almost hear the gleeful rubbing of tabloid editors’ sweaty palms from the reports on Kate Moss's recent Easyjet altercation. How they must have thrilled at her slip-up, her daring to be a bit pissed on a plane. Because no one likes a woman who doesn't mind behaving a bit badly in public, do they? It's not as if she doesn't lead the rock and roll lifestyle that often produces this – a...

Media Power: It’s in your Hands

By Nathan Lee, TLE Correspondent  Media power was a focal topic in the run up to the General Election. Sat in Russell Brand’s London apartment, Ed Miliband outlined an aggressive stance on media ownership in an effort to win over the non-voting nonconformist comedian who had passionately campaigned against oligarchs such as Rupert Murdoch. But he needn’t have bothered. According to new research, power in the media industry no longer rests with the publications. The marriage of social media and...
