Jonathan Van-Tam quits government in fresh blow to Boris

Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is a British politician and writer serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since July 2019. He was Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs 2016-2018 and Mayor of London 2008-2016. Johnson has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015 and was previously MP for Henley from 2001 to 2008. He has been described as adhering to the ideology of one-nation and national conservatism.

Douglas Ross said the prime minister's position was "no longer tenable" after the latest Partygate revelations.
Safeguarding minister Rachel Maclean said Boris Johnson’s decision to attend the May 2020 government party was simply “a lapse of judgement".
Sir Roger Gale said Johnson was on "very thin ice indeed" after PMQs.
"I believed implicitly that this was a work event," the prime minister protested at PMQs.
"I’m just asking you whether, if he misled the House, should he resign? And the answer, as you know, is yes," presenter Kay Burley said.
Jo Maugham said the government had treated the pandemic as a chance "to enrich its associates and donors at public expense".
"Despite all the scandal, all the corruption, spineless Government Ministers have continued to blindly follow Boris Johnson."
