Why the COP21 Agreement Falls Way Short of What is Needed

By Oliver Ward Last weekend’s gruelling late night talks concluded in La Bourget and Paris was finally able to celebrate something as COP21 talks resulted in an agreement signed by 195 nations. Politicians linked hands, people were hugging and standing on desks. Like a work Christmas party, all that was missing was François Hollande with his tie round his head dragging everyone to the middle of the dance floor to boogie to Come on Eileen. There was much to celebrate;...

The Rise of the Superbug

By Professor Colin Garner, Chief Executive of Antibiotic Research UK, comments: Today, patients undergoing routine treatments such as cancer treatment, organ transplantation and hip and knee replacements, are given antibiotics to prevent infection during these treatments. Love : Film Review

By Leslie Byron Pitt @Afrofilmviewer It’s often said that you don’t watch porn for its plot. The same can certainly be said for Gaspar Noe’s indulgent Love. For all it’s on screen ejaculation and 3D Penises thrusting out at the audience, Noe cannot hide that this is a tediously overlong piece with an under baked plot. While Love is certainly a more sensitive and personal film in comparison to previous features (I Stand Alone (1998), Irréversible (2002), Enter the Void...

Restaurant Review – Beef & Brew

By Jonathan Hatchman, Food Editor, @TLE_Food Flat Iron, Burger & Lobster, Patty & Bun, Suvlaki, Chick ‘n’ Sours, Bao, Top Dog, and MEATliquor. These are just a few of the less than imaginatively titled restaurants to have opened in London over the past few years, leaving little to the imagination when guessing what each respective menu may offer. Limited menus that are practically plastered in full above the doors of these restaurants have become such a big trend on the...

Robert Dyas vs Red House: Which is the Most Cringeworthy?

Robert Dyas has taken the award for most cringeworthy marketing campaign of the festive season after releasing its ‘We’re gay. And straight. And bi…’ advertisement. The ad features staff members of varying sexual orientation promoting products under the strapline “Robert Dyas: where gays and straights can buy drills, and much, much more.” It is thought the ad is a spoof of a Red Hill advert which used the strapline "where black people and white people buy furniture" in an advert in 2009. Take a...
