The last few days have seen the issue of street violence in London and elsewhere unusually occupying headline space as the realisation appears, at last, to be dawning that the thinning blue line are struggling to maintain control of our streets. This has been clearly illustrated by the tragic events on Monday evening when a 17-year-old girl was shot dead in Tottenham. On the same evening two 16- year- olds suffered serious injuries in a shooting and stabbing incident in...
Although technology has brought us some incredible innovations that we can use in our day-to-day activities, keeping some old habits alive is an excellent idea as well. Motivational experts often speak about how having big visible charts can serve as an information radiator that helps individuals keep track of their tasks, teams, progress, or lack of it. In other words, computers and tablets are unable to replace whiteboards because they don't offer constant visual stimulation and accountability for one’s actions....
These restaurants suggest Farringdon is the meat-eating capital of London (if not the entire United Kingdom)." By the 1870s, Smithfield Market had become internationally renowned as the premier meat market it remains today. Housed within a vast, cathedral-like structure opposite St Bart’s Hospital, the market’s building was officially opened in 1868, designed by Architect Sir Horace Jones (also responsible for Tower Bridge, Billingsgate and Leadenhall Markets). 150 years later, Smithfield Market still thrives and is surrounded by a wealth of...
March was a mellow one, wasn't it? So much so I had to put a special call-out to our followers on Twitter to get in touch with some heavier jams (thanks for bringing Greyhaven to my attention, peeps!). Not that there isn't joy to be had in some of this month's gentlest releases. 'bless ur heart' has us hyped for serpentwithfeet's silky and soulful debut soil, while new Grouper sees the Oregon-born ambient artist enveloped in tangible keys and ephemeral reverb....
A woman whose head was repeatedly stamped on and smashed into railings by a random stranger is demanding “justice” for the unprovoked attack. Lawyer Natalie Moult, 37, was returning from a night out with friends in the early hours of Sunday morning when she was brutally beaten in the street. She suffered severe bruising to her right eye and both cheeks, swelling to her head and hand, cuts inside her mouth, a chipped tooth and missing hair in the attack....
Commenters on Guido Fawkes have been accused of being so racist they create their own language to be antisemitic and get past the algorithms. Last night after right wing blog Guido Fawkes published a secret recording of a private Passover seder ceremony that Jeremy Corbyn attended to attack all those present for supporting the Labour leader, eagle eyed people started questioning some of the comments on the blog. While the Jewdas organisation that the blog describes as "radical" has a history of...
Police have launched two separate investigations after a teenage boy was shot and critically injured - and a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed. The Met Police say the two incidents are unrelated, after another night of violence in London. The 17-year-old girl died after she was shot in Tottenham, north London, at around 21:30 on Easter Monday. A Met Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found the teenage girl suffering from a gun...

There have been 53 murders in the capital since 2012, with London's murder rate overtaking New York City's for the first time ever in February according to a new report. An FOI request submitted on behalf of The London Economic found Brent is the capital’s highest borough for gun murders, with...
