Back in February Gwyneth Paltrow’s methods for tackling long Covid were criticised by an NHS medical director. Now she has opened up about eating bread.

The Hollywood star-turned-lifestyle guru revealed she had Covid-19, which left her with “long-tail fatigue and brain fog”.

The 48-year-old has since embarked on a “keto and plant-based” regime, with no sugar and alcohol, and fasts until 11am every day.

Professor Stephen Powis, national medical director for the NHS in England, said that “serious science” should be applied and “influencers” have a responsibility.

“Like the virus, misinformation carries across borders and it mutates and it evolves,” he said.

Writing on her blog on her website Goop, Paltrow said she is embarking on a long-term healing plan.

She wrote: “I had Covid-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog.

She said she turned to a “functional medicine practitioner”, adding that “after he saw all my labs, he explained that this was a case where the road to healing was going to be longer than usual”.

Bread

Now Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted she was driven to extremes during quarantine, sort of.

Paltrow admitted to drinking as many as two cocktails a night during lockdown (quinoa-based whiskey cocktails, of course); and even sometimes eating bread.

The horror!

Reactions

Well this was just too easy and, as ever, social media came alive to comment on her wheat based indiscretion.

When my Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pussy scented candle fell over and started a fire that burned my nephew Tanner & his Cub Scout den to death. https://t.co/ffaPkBxAUU

That Guardian Gwyneth Paltrow story is super relevant because it highlights the different universes, not worlds, the elite live in.

In 2020, for 99% of the planet, breaking down =emotional collapse at loss of loved one, livelihood, home.

For Paltrow it meant eating bread.

So Gwyneth Paltrow ate bread during lockdown and that’s the most relatable she’s ever been.

It's a toss up between when I couldn't breathe, had a fever of > 40°C, and was weeping from the awful headaches; and deciding who went on the last available CPAP machine when I was back at work a week later. https://t.co/MoNh6UdmPU

I broke down and ate Gwyneth Paltrow. Quite out of character for me surprising, but also a tad stringy, which was less so. https://t.co/2wnQzGJ9zJ
