“Like one of those hostage videos” – reactions to Johnson casting vote with Carrie Symonds

"Nice to see the PM walking alongside Boris Johnson."

Hundreds of online users have reacted to a video showing prime minister Boris Johnson walking to the polling station with his fiancée Carrie Symonds.

Many found the walk unusual with jokes being thrown around about the couple.

Johnson and Symmonds were headed to vote for the London mayor elections, where Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey was up against 19 other candidates – including incumbent Sadiq Khan and Count Binface, who said he is more qualified than his competitors.

The reactions come only a week after Johnson was trending on Twitter as ‘Boris The Liar’ because of allegations he said he would rather “let the bodies pile high” than have more lockdowns.

See below what people had to say about the video:

It's like watching Trump and his wife. Same looking away, feeling a bit embarrassed.

As another observer stated "Even Trump and Melania looked more natural than these two." https://t.co/t7Nl3lNvQC

Carrie doesn't want to vote for Johnson. He's not having any of it! https://t.co/gaE6n81HSx

Hi @metpoliceuk I’d like to report a possible hostage situation. This woman does not look like she is acting of her own free will https://t.co/W8zrWgKWPW

I’d say she’s probably got the decorators in…. https://t.co/UZpyZjaM02

That’s a hell of a grip he’s got on her. Makes him look nervous and ill at ease. Maybe Dom’s been in touch? https://t.co/xOv83NzySK

That dress used to be the previous curtains. She’s all into upcycling. 😉

And the hand hold on the way out 😳 why are they so uncomfortable with each other? Any body language experts on here?
