The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).
Hunt repeatedly said he did not “accept” the OBR’s prediction that Brexit will cause a 4 per cent GDP reduction in the long term.
“I accept the ones I agree with and I don’t accept the ones I don’t agree with", the chancellor said.
It comes after the Chancellor was forced to deny he was the source of suggestions ministers were considering a Swiss-style relationship with the EU.
Inevitably, some will cry: “But all you will do is let Labour in.” My answer is simple: so what?
"Now everything is economic, and while you can sell Brexit many ways, selling it as a boost to GDP is a stretch.”
Pointing out sensible solutions to the UK's economic woes is an unpopular thing for the chancellor to do these days.
