The price spike comes amid warnings from hauliers that delays at Calais and other French ports are set to deteriorate further.
Karl Turner, MP for Hull East, said the delay was the “last nail in the coffin” for the industry.
"You can send the bill of the lunches to Nigel Farage," one person suggested.
Robin Niblett warned there is ‘no certainty’ Britain will live up to its potential role as a valued global broker.
"We’ve arrived at a treaty and now we’ve got to make that treaty work," he said.
“This disastrous Tory Brexit was a completely unnecessary act of economic vandalism, which has been inflicted against Scotland’s will," they said.
