By Jonathan Hatchman, Food Editor, @TLE_Food With plenty of exciting restaurant openings constantly taking place across the Capital, here’s our pick of the best new restaurants arriving in London over the coming month. Balls & Company – Soho The brainchild of Australian-born chef Bonny Porter, Balls & Company will be the first Soho restaurant to offer a gourmet menu that’s focused on Meatballs. For most Londoners, Meatballs evoke the idea of either Italian Buffets (most underwhelming) or Ikea, yet Balls & Company aims to...

Heathrow: The Worst Recommendation (Except for all the Others)

So Sir Howard’s Commission has returned its recommendation. After two and a half years of deliberation, pie-in-the-sky proposals, costly marketing campaigns and self-centred political lobbying we have come to the conclusion that you simply can’t move a hub with deliverable expansion proposals. It is the worst recommendation, except for all the others. The economic benefits for Heathrow expansion are obvious. Generating up to £147 billion for the economy over 60 years and 70,000 new jobs by 2050 it separates the...

Thy Art Is Murder get Heads Rolling in Video for ‘Holy War’

Crying kids, stitched eyeballs, waterboarding and severed heads - yep, Thy Art Is Murder are back in town, and they've brought a politically charged, shred-heavy video with them. The official video for 'Holy War', the title track from the Australian metallers' new album, is sure to raise a few eyebrows and turn a few stomachs. Heads may indeed roll over their extreme depiction of the war on terror, but let's not forget that at the centre of the carnage TAIM are...

Kagoule Go Medieval in the Video for ‘Glue’

Nottingham alt-rock trio Kagoule have premiered the new music video for latest single ‘Glue’. That'll be a slice of tasty alternative, then.

Live Review – Mogwai

By Kane Power (@ElHeavio) 24.6.15, The Roundhouse, London North London courts were overwhelmed last Thursday as thousands of people filed lawsuits against promoters All Tomorrow’s Parties, after being left partially deafened from a Mogwai concert. Local magistrates are in agreement that most of the cases have no basis, as anyone who still underestimated the Scottish post-rock giants after 20 years on the scene deserves to feel the full brunt of their noise. Mogwai graced The Roundhouse on Wednesday night to...

I have to admit - I am not a typical motorsport fan.  Watching cars go round, over and over again, was never my thing, but the buzz that was created around the...

Restaurant Review – ROKA Aldwych

By Jonathan Hatchman, Food Editor, @TLE_Food Tying in with the tenth anniversary of ROKA’s first restaurant on London’s Charlotte Street, ROKA Aldwych opened its doors last Summer. Marking the newest and biggest of the ROKA restaurants from Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney, the team behind Zuma. Situated just moments from The Strand and London’s Theatre District, offering a reasonable pre-theatre menu, it’s no wonder that the restaurant has become so popular over the past year. Upon entering on our recent visit, we ended up partaking in a...
