A shocking video has emerged via the Jerusalem Post, in which IS has told the countries taking part in air strikes in Syria will suffer the same fate as France, and threatened to attack the American capital, Washington DC.

The video was uploaded to a site used by ISIL and the footage includes the aftermath of Friday’s shocking events in the French capital. At least 132 people were killed in a number of orchestrated attacks, spreading carnage across the city.

The man who delivered the message is identified in subtitles as Al Ghareeb the Algerian.

The militant also warned Europe that more attacks were coming, adding:

“I say to the European countries that we are coming, coming with booby traps and explosives, coming with explosive belts and (gun) silencers and you will be unable to stop us because today we are much stronger than before.”

Another man identified in the video as Al Karrar the Iraqi tells French President Francois Hollande “we have decided to negotiate with you in the trenches and not in the hotels”.

He states in the video:

“We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France’s and by God, as we struck France in the centre of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its centre in Washington.”

In retaliation France has launched a series of air strikes in Islamic State’s de facto capital, Raqqa. It is hoped the attacks will destroy IS once and for all, however some commentators have said it could in fact increase the cycle of violence. In Europe there have been numerous raids, especially in Molenbeek, a suburb of Brussels, said to be a “jihadi haven,” on mainland Europe.

The militant also warned Europe that more attacks were coming, adding:

“I say to the European countries that we are coming, coming with booby traps and explosives, coming with explosive belts and (gun) silencers and you will be unable to stop us because today we are much stronger than before.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
