Banking heiress Kate Rothschild had hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery stolen as her children slept at their London home.

The haul taken from the £3.5 million property in leafy Barnes, south west London, included the 35-year-old’s wedding and engagement rings, according to reports.

Ir is understood that intruders scaled a wall at the back of the house near Barnes Common before grabbing a large jewellery box containing valuables, including an antique diamond dragonfly brooch as well as her wedding and engagement rings.

Music prodicer Ms Rothschild, who bought the property for £3.5 million in October 2015, is said to have discovered the burglary after returning home with her businessman boyfriend, Paul Forkan, after attending a book launch in central London.

It is understood gems inside the stolen box included wedding and engagement rings from her marriage to financier and environmentalist Ben Goldsmith, younger brother of Tory MP Zac and son of billionaire Sir James.

The property bought by Kate Rothschild in 2015 for £3.5 million and scene of the jewel theft last week.
