How did the collective come together?

Bang Said The Gun was born 19 years ago in the Wheatsheaf Pub, Soho, by Martin Galton and Dan Cockrill, as the antidote to the boring, navel gazing poetry nights that existed back then.

What can people expect from your show?

Bang Said the Gun is a loud, raucous, energised night, more like a party than a poetry gig. It’s a rabid poetry mongrel that’s funny one minute and heartbreaking the next. It’s political, banal, thoughtful and filthy, a true roller coaster of emotions.

Do you have a favourite place to go to when in London?

The Roebuck pub in The Borough. It’s the best pub in London and was Bang’s home for 10 years.

What’s your tip for aspiring poets?

Read the poem by Charles Bukowski called So You Want To Be A Writer. It’s all the advice you’ll need.
