Album Review: Frank Turner, Be More Kind

It's 2018 and the World is on its knees. Ask British folk singer Jay McAllister about it and he'll tell you that “the world is dying. Shit is getting serious".  Ask punk poet Sean McGowan and he'll say it's all "daylight robbery, mad men on a muggery, lifetime of monotony, it’s a fixed lottery, burdened to bottom feed, banished to poverty, worship celebrity?… Nah I don’t think so". Arc of Triumph released their debut album last year making chilling warnings about the...

Commenting on...

The band's seventh album, titled ‘Megaplex’, sees the now renowned duo of Keith Murray and Chris Cain dazzle with ten brand new splashes of colourful and utterly addictive pop. Recorded at the Tim Wheeler from Ash’s studio much of the record bears a resemblance to the aforementioned...

In eight months’ time, when everyone’s doing their yearly round-ups and we’ve all seen exactly 7,081,346 Best of 2018 album countdowns each, music press will turn to April as the banner month for releases. I mean, you were there too. Just look at the state of it! In the space of 30 short days we had batshit experimental hardcore in the return of The Armed, a smoothed out and slappy as-all-get-out new one from stoner rock legends Sleep, and the...

GALLERY: Trivium showcase the best of metal’s new breed in outrageous Brixton show

Venue: Brixton Academy, London Date: 21.4.18 Support: Code Orange, Power Trip, Venom Prison Photos: Richard Broome (richbroomemusicphotography.weebly.com) Good grief, look at that line-up. After riding the hype – and subsequent hate – of a meteoric rise in the early noughties with Ascendancy, Trivium have, through sheer perseverance and talent, found themselves settled at the top of the pile once again, this time as elder statesmen of metal. This is no more apparent than on this later tour where Matt Heafy’s...
