Another 365 days have passed, another 100 stellar tracks from the year gone by to bury your face in. Just look at this embarrassment of bangers. Happy New Year indeed!

We at TLE hope you had a great 2018 and were able to dodge the bitter, bitter New Year’s Day hangover. If your head isn’t too sore, why not dive into the best seven hours of music the year had to offer?

What have we got, then. The return of Slipknot? The unstoppable rise of Idles and Mitski? Anderson. Paak continuing to be the coolest man alive? Secret Cutter plumbing new depths of heavy? Jon Hopkins and Skee Mask writing the best electronic albums of the year? And more experimental hardcore genre bending from The Armed and Daughters? There’s lovely posi stuff from Culture Abuse and Turnstile, lovely neggy stuff from Leeched and Vein, and loads of melodic, punishing, beautiful, recklessly catchy other stuff in between. Not a bad one, that 2018.

Whatever your tastes, there’s something here for you, and hopefully this has helped to uncover some future favourites to ring in 2019 with a hail of undeniable jams.

But which tracks didn’t make our list which successfully crushed your 2018? And which albums passed us by which we should definitely check out? Let us know below.
