Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson will go up in flames this weekend – as an 11ft effigy for Bonfire Night.

Organisers at the annual Kent bash have previously depicted disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein, ex-Apprentice star Katie Hopkins and Donald Trump.

This year the straw-haired politician will be added to the Edenbridge Bonfire Night line-up along with the traditional Guy Fawkes on 3 November.

The event is celebrating it’s 90th year running and has created celebrity effigy’s for more than 20 of them.

Over 800 people are expected to join the torch-lit parade through the High Street before enjoying the bonfire.

Money raised at the event is donated to local charities.

Caricaturist Andrea Deans, who has painted the BoJo effigy said: “As with last year there were many strong contenders for this year’s celebrity guy, particularly in the political world.

“This year Boris was the obvious option, plus he’s great to caricature and I’ve wanted to paint him for a long time.”

Chairman Bill Cummings from the Edenbridge Bonfire Society said: “This year we have chosen the inimitable Boris Johnson as our celebrity guy, but I am sure you will agree that our artist, Andrea Deans, has captured his likeness veru well.

“Our message to Mr Johnson is that you cannot have your cake and eat it.

“We hope Mr Johnson will appreciate the humour contained in our caricature and take it in the good spirit with which it is intended.”
