AeroMexico has launched “DNA discounts” as part of a marketing push trolling anti-Mexican sentiment in the US.

The airline took to the American Deep South to interview resident’s on their attitudes towards travelling to Mexico.

Several interviewees expressed their dislike of the country, saying they have no interest in visiting. One man says, “Let me stay here in peace, and let those folks stay on their side of the border.”

Others say they enjoy Mexican exports such as burritos and tequila, but have no interest in travelling there.

Xenophobic sentiment towards Mexico has been stoked up since President Donald Trump promised to build a border wall between the two countries, with a migrant caravan from Central America featuring heavily during the US midterms.

But many Texan residents were shocked to find that they actually have Mexican heritage.

Using DNA tests interviewees were told to camera what percentage Mexican DNA they have and were offered discounts on flights to Mexico based on that percentage as part of a “DNA discount” promotion being rolled out north of the border.

Many reacted with dismay, although one couple were pleasantly surprised by the news, with the husband teasing his wife about his percentage being higher than hers.
