An elderly woman was hurt when a car smashed into her house following a mass ten-man brawl on a quiet suburban street on New Year’s Eve.

Rescue teams, including police, firefighters and paramedics, dashed to the scene after thugs went berserk just before midnight.

In chaotic scenes, a Nissan Micra ploughed into a house after it was reversed at speed down Kesterel Road, in Russells Hall, Dudley.

An elderly resident who was sitting in her living room at the time was injured by debris as the car smashed into her property.

A 20-year-old man from Telford, Shrops., was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Another woman was also hurt when she was attacked and dragged along the ground.

Meanwhile a Ford Fiesta was set on fire and a 16-year-old passenger arrested on suspicion of punching two people and a police officer.

One police officer was assaulted during the disorder which unfolded shortly after 11pm.

Shocking pictures showed the Nissan lodged inside the elderly woman’s home.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: “We were called to Kestrel Road, in the Russells Hall area, in Dudley, by police shortly before 11pm.

“We received quite a few calls in relation to the incident. Crews from Brierley Hill, Dudley and Tipton all went to the scene.

“One car had impacted into the front ground floor living room of a semi-detached property in the street.

“One man and one woman sustained injuries from masonry and glass – and were taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

“The woman had been in the house, while the man was in the vehicle.

“Our technical rescue unit removed the car from the building.”
