High-profile shadow minister Jess Phillips joined several colleagues in leaving the front bench following the Commons vote.
“On this occasion I must vote with my constituents, my head, and my heart", the MP for Birmingham Yardley said.
The Labour frontbencher argued for ‘peaceful political solutions’ to be negotiated, contrary to Sir Keir Starmer’s position for the party.
"The Labour Party conference is really nice and friendly. You've been let in, Owen!"
"This is the kind of thing that I get", the MP said after an email cropped up during her appearance on BBC Politics Live.
