Spain, Austria, The Netherlands and France have put in ambitious measures to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in Europe by 2050. But Sunak says flights will "bring the UK together".
Sunak made it cheaper for people to fly between UK cities - while making little mention of the climate crisis in Wednesday's Budget.
"We can afford to contribute more," a group of 30 millionaires told the Chancellor.
Ahead of the Budget, the Chancellor said the UK "has always been a proud and preeminent nation".
The Tory chancellor said that just like furlough has come to an end, free school meals coming to an end is also part of the transition to a “more normal way of doing things”.
