Commuters were left stunned when a brutal ‘knife battle’ broke out among ‘feral’ teenagers on a busy London street in the middle of the afternoon.

A tracksuit-clad lad was spotted being stretchered away from the scene in in Bethnal Green, east London, on Thursday afternoon hours after Government figures revealed offences involving knives have risen by 16 per cent over the past 12 months.

Police confirmed that a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in his neck and torso in the latest incident at 3.50 pm – in full view of horrified passers-by.

Witness Andrea Fox said: “I Just saw two ferals going at each other with knives across the road from Jones Town Coffee, then run off – never a copper in sight.”

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: “Police were called by paramedics at 3.50 pm to reports of a stabbing on Bethnal Green Road.

“Officers, paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene, where a 16-year-old male was suffering from stab wounds to his neck and torso.

“He has been taken to an east London hospital – we await an update on his condition. No arrests. Inquiries continue.”
