A traffic warden was beaten and stamped by a gang of angry thugs on after being dragged from his moped.

Sickening scenes of the incident, plastered over social media, shows the man scream out in pain as the youths repeated kicked and stamped on his head, as he was laying on the ground.

The yobs then stole his moped.

The attack happened between 5pm and 5.30pm on Friday 14th Sept on Hartopp Road at the corner with College Road, Alum Rock, Birmingham.

Det Sgt Tom Lyons, from West Midlands Police, said: “I was absolutely furious when I saw the footage. The level of violence used is truly shocking, and I know every right-minded person who views it will share that anger.

“We’ve already spoken to the victim.

“CCTV and other enquiries have already begun, but people in the community will know who these men are. I’d urge them to examine their conscience and do the right thing and give us the names.”

A man aged 20 has already been arrested in Alum Rock, Birmingham this morning (15/9) on suspicion of robbery.

But Police want to trace another five men following the robbery.

Currently, the men numbered one, two and three in the images are being treated as suspects, while numbers four and five may have information to assist the investigation.

They also want to trace a sixth man but currently don’t have images of him at this stage.

Members of the public were quick to share social media video footage with the police, and we are now formally circulating those images as we appeal for the public’s help to identify those involved as quickly as possible.

Anyone with information can contact West Midlands Police on 101 anytime or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
