A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 21-year-old man who was fatally stabbed at a shopping centre in London, last week.

The Met police said the 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday (24 March) and remains in custody at a south London police station.

Police were called last Tuesday (20 March) at 09:30pm to reports of a disturbance in Stratford Centre.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found a 21-year-old man suffering from stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, detectives are satisfied that the victim is 21-year-old Beniamin Pieknyi, from Milton Keynes.

DCI Will Reynolds, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “It is believed that the victim and a friend were involved in an altercation with a large group of young males before he was stabbed in the shopping centre.
