Strazzanti Hackney City Farm

Following successful collaborations with the likes of Bar Termini and House of Peroni, Strazzanti has been serving Sunday brunches in Fitzrovia this Summer. Set up by three sisters, Emilia, Nina and Sofia Strazzanti; the Sicilian bakery and brunch pop-up will partner with Frizzante – the café at Hackney City Farm – for two supper clubs next month.

On Thursday 26th and Friday 27th July, the first in a series of Sicilian-inspired supper clubs will take place in the barns of Hackney City Farm, marrying British and Sicilian ingredients. A host of East London based suppliers will also feature prominently, with 10 per cent of the events’ proceeds going towards the farm itself – a registered charity to aid the local community.

Throughout the two-day pop-up, Strazzanti’s menu will be heavily plant-based, reflecting inland Sicily where cattle and seafood are scarce. Dinner will begin with classic arancini filled with spinach and mozzarella, plus anchovies and butter on bread. A welcome cocktail will champion Our/London Vodka, based in Hackney Downs. Also on the menu, antipasti and sharing platters will include fresh ricotta, Sicilian pistachio and fresh oregano on E5 Bakehouse sourdough; pepperonata; grilled courgette with mint, chilli and garlic; and heritage tomatoes dressed with pesto Trapanese. A pasta course will follow, featuring a sauce of aubergine and salted ricotta to join the fresh, handmade pasta. To finish, Strazzanti will set up a dessert station, offering their renowned pastries and cakes – including their pistachio and lemon cake.

Celebrating the local area, E5 Roasthouse & Bakehouse in London Fields will contribute the coffee and Hackney Wilde sourdough; vegetables will be sourced from the nearby Dagenham Farm growing community and wine will be provided by Passione Vino, an independent Italian wine shop and bar in Shoreditch.

Further information on Strazzanti’s Sicilian supper club (£35 per person) can be found here.
