Brits Unveil Their Top ‘Posh’ Foods

Cous cous, prawns and kale are among the foods which millions of Brits consider as ‘posh’, a survey revealed. The detailed study also found risotto, pesto and fajitas made the list as did hummus, sushi and sea bass. Italian cheese mozzarella, rocket and even beetroot are also now considered up-market. The study showed that eight in ten Brits feel that certain foods are seen as ‘trendy’ now and that like everything thing else, foods come in and out of fashion. It also...

An Honest Christmas Burger

Jack Peat's honest review of Honest Burgers  If we're to accept the premise that blaming the noisy f*ckwits on the table next to me on Honest Burgers would be unfair, then I would have to conclude that this is a pretty spot on burger joint. Nestled behind Oxford Street amongst a group of likeminded eateries Honest Burgers is an evolution of an artisan festival burger stand that turned semi-pro in Brixton Village (all good things turn semi-pro in Brixton) before...

A Taste of London

Jack Peat reviews The Tasting Room, Liverpool Street  Sat overlooking an ice rink suspended above Liverpool Street station with a citrus-infused, hoppy craft beer in hand and a whiff of smoked meats in the air I realised; winter doesn’t have to be so depressing. We had been invited to a new pop-up venture borne of a marriage between artisan food shop Sourced Market, seasonal drink specialists Peppermint Bars and smoked meat authority Smokestack which have collaborated to form a pseudo Winter...

So you think you’re a foodie?

By Charlotte Hope, Lifestyle Editor @TLE_Lifestyle Remember the time before the word "foodie" was used, it was a  carefree egalitarian existence. You could make beans on toast and eat it, just so, you know, you were full. But those days a long gone. If it isn't artisan, it isn't going down my gullet, sorry beans back in the tin. Knowing the best cuts of meat, your terrine from your carpaccio and what wine to have with your meal are what...

Red wine drinkers make more money than other vino fans

By Charlotte Hope, Lifestyle Editor, @TLE_Lifestyle I like wine, no screw (no pun intended) that I LOVE wine, of all sorts, colours and price. So I can’t say this survey applies to me, and I would have been too drunk to fill it in anyway. However, 2,000 wine drinkers did and there were some startling results. Red wine drinkers earn more money, are more confident and are more likely to watch Dr Who, than those who sip white wine. Experts examined...
