Ahead of launching a permanent South London restaurant during the summer, Fat Tony’s will pop-up at Tony Conigliaro’s renowned Italian cocktail and coffee bar, Bar Termini Centrale, until the end of April.

Opening for two months, as of Monday 5th March, Fat Tony’s will serve a selection of traditional pasta dishes, inspired by founder and head chef James French’s extensive travels around Italy and an apprenticeship at Michelin starred L’Erba del Re in Modena.

A self-taught chef with six years’ catering experience, James’ fresh, creative take on classic dishes and ideas from different Italian regions will be showcased at Fat Tony’s – celebrating the diversity of Italian cuisine. Here, the menu will include dishes such as Pappardelle with longhorn shin ragu; Tagliarine with clams, samphire, chilli and garlic; and Stracchino, ricotta and parmesan torteloni with sage butter, all assembled using fresh pasta which will be made by hand on site, daily. To begin, starters such as burrata with sea salt and olive oil or Panzanella will also be offered, followed by the likes of grilled peaches with amaretto and crème fraiche for dessert.

At the beginning of the week, Fat Tony’s will also serve Pici Cacio e Pepe and Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Peperoncino on Mondays, from 6pm to 9pm. Throughout the week, Fat Tony’s menu will also be complemented by Bar Termini signature drinks such as the ‘Spritz Termini’ and ‘Terroir’, plus Tony Conigliaro’s famous bottle-aged Negronis. Styled on traditional Italian railway cafes, focussing on coffee and cocktails, Bar Termini Centrale seems an ideal launch pad for Fat Tony’s

On the collaboration, Tony Conigliaro said:

A shared passion for old-school Italiana and a complementary aesthetic made this partnership a natural fit for us at Termini. James has an excellent understanding and respect for his craft, not to mention a bloody delicious menu, and we’re looking forward to introducing Londoners to Fat Tony’s next month.”

The full Fat Tony’s menu will be available from Wednesday – Saturday, midday to 9pm, with a shorter menu offered on Mondays from 6pm – 9pm. Tables for Fat Tony’s pop-up can be booked at bar-termini-centrale.com.
