One of the city’s best British restaurants, Chamberlain’s of London has been operating from a site in Leadenhall Market for the past 16 years.

Still going strong, Chamberlain’s served fish and chips from their new standalone fish and chip shop (adjoined to the restaurant) for hundreds of service men and women in support of the Royal British Legion last week.

Owned by fourth generation fishmongers Chamberlain and Thelwell – with the kitchen headed up by chef Andrew Jones – the restaurant has just announced plans to open on the weekend. The news of Chamberlain’s of London’s weekend opening comes on the back of Leadenhall Market becoming fully occupied for the first time in five years, coupled with the success of local new openings such as The Ned and Bloomberg Arcade.

Joining the growing movement to make the City of London a seven-day destination, Chamberlain’s will serve an a la carte and Saturday Gourmet menu on Saturday evenings, plus a Sunday Brunch menu. Brunch menu highlights include Scottish lobster omelette glazed with lobster bisque; Newlyn Cornish plaice; or a Full English breakfast. For an additional £20, the Sunday Brunch can be accompanied by unlimited Prosecco or Bloody Mary. All of Chamberlain’s fresh fish and seafood is selected daily and sourced from Billingsgate Market, just four miles away from the restaurant.

Andrew Cross, Assistant Director of City Fund in the Investment Property Group said: “Leadenhall Market’s stunning architecture, history and world class retail, food & drink offer makes it the perfect place to visit any day of the week. It’s fantastic that one of our flagship restaurants, Chamberlain’s, is pioneering weekend opening at the Market. We would like to see other tenants following this and taking advantage of the Square Mile’s growing buoyant weekend economy.”

Chamberlain’s of London will open on Saturday evenings from 5pm-10pm and on Sundays between 11am-4pm. Further information can be found here.
