Four members of the Made in Chelsea production crew crash landed in the Pacific Ocean as the cast headed to film a special in Costa Rica.

The production plane crashed over the Pacific en route to Central america while the rest of the cast and crew were flying to a luxury resort separately.

However, they will be flying back to the UK “as soon as possible” after the shoot was abandoned.

The small Cessna 210 Centurion plane was carrying two senior producers and two technical directors as well as the pilot. It came in to land in Tambor at around 6pm local time on Wednesday – about 1am here.

Coast guards and police pulled them aboard a rescue boat before the plane sank around five miles out to sea.

A spokeswoman for the E4 reality show said: “Four of our production team on Made in Chelsea, produced by Monkey Kingdom, were involved in a plane crash earlier today (UK time) in a resort in Costa Rica.

“We can confirm that all four people and the pilot are safe and unhurt.

“No cast were on board.
