If April was an indie rock darling, April is all about hip-hop. What a list of legends. Get ready for a long and happy stretch of the best releases this month had to offer, kicking off with the fabulous new single from Childish Gambino. ‘This Is America’ is an absolute banger, and if you haven’t seen it already (where the hell have you been?!),  try consuming it with a side of the controversial video, too.

There’s also a lovely, silly new cut from Aesop Rock, the pure hype of ‘Bubblin’ by Anderson .Paak, and fresh Kanye, which has just about snuck into this month’s playlist (ye came out on 1st June but damn it, I’m counting it here).

Moses Sumney also graces our cover image for the second time on account of being the purveyor or seriously sultry jams, consistently, forever. Elsewhere Bristol bands reign supreme as personal favourites IDLES return on lairy form, and Modern Rituals, who killed it at the Old Blue Last the other week, get weirder and heavier than ever before.
