Shoreditch events collective SuperCulture will host a series of events tackling male mental health in January 2018 with DJs, broadcasters and musicians including Professor Green, SBTV’s Jamal Edwards, DJ High Rankin, Jordan Stevens (Rizzle Kicks) and more.

Titled MENtal Health, the events series will be in collaboration with three partners: The Book of Man Magazine, DJ and broadcaster High Rankin and Fashion Collective Flower Up .

Held at The Book Club and Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, the events will range from Dad’s Brunches to workshops lead by the trans community; panel talks on music and mental health, live podcasts and secret gigs with a portion of all ticket sales going to the Suicide Prevention charity Calm. The closing event will be the spectacular ‘Night of 1,000 Cocks’ – a penis gallery to promote body positivity as part of The Book of Man’s Festival of New Masculinity series.

Jenna Al-Ansari , event organizer for SuperCulture said:

“This residency quarter will acknowledge that as much space as men are given to talk, it seems the conversation about the devastating effects of poor mental health isn’t being had. Toxic masculinity still pervades all walks of life, and the Me Too movement demonstrated how devastating the effects of this culture is for women and non-binary people.

“Thankfully, a younger generation of people are finally having the conversations about mental health and speaking without stigma about what they’re going through. With this in mind, our upcoming Wellness quarter will feature residents addressing the core issues of mental health and deconstructing toxic masculinity from within, hearing from men, women and non-binary people on the frontline of changing this culture.”
