Set up by a husband and wife team with the aim of crafting a range of high-quality, traditional British beers, the idea for the local community driven East London Brewing Company came about while the pair were expecting their second child. Now operating from a site in Leyton, the 10-barrel microbrewery produces draught and bottled beers, with a total of seven regular ales, as well as the odd seasonal special.
From the brewery’s core range, Jamboree is a golden beer that’s brewed using English hops – particularly Bramling Cross – offering an earthy hop aroma, with notes of grapefruit and lemon rind. With its rich deep golden body and smooth white head, Jamboree has a very traditional notion, which follows through into the taste with a great balance between sweetness and bitterness with plenty of biscuit malt, providing a smooth and refreshing finish. Although ELB’s Jamboree doesn’t shatter any boundaries with its bold conventionality, the result is a highly quaffable beer from one of the premier craft breweries based in London’s east-end
