Shocking reports are emerging of a mass shooting in Holland.

Dutch police have said that several people have been shot in the city of Utrecht.

A man opened fire on a tram and the shooting took place at around 10:45 local time (09:45 GMT).

According to news website AD, the gunman then fled the scene, that took place in the city centre.

Utrecht Police said they are considering the possibility of a “terrorist motive”. 

Dutch police suspect at least one fatality from the shooting in Utrecht, a spokeswoman has said.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said he was “deeply concerned” and has now cancelled his weekly coalition talks, while this situation is still on-going.

Police have now named the suspect in the shooting attack which has left three people dead and nine others injured.

Officers identified Turkish-born Gokman Tanis, 37, in connection with the incident. The public have been urged not to approach him.
