A 22-year-old was run over and then fatally stabbed in the latest knife attacks plaguing Britain.

The unidentified man from Southampton was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford last Wednesday but died on Thursday evening.

Thames Valley police has now launched a murder investigation .

A spokesman said: “The victim, who was aged 22, and from Southampton, was struck by a vehicle and stabbed several times in the attack last Wednesday and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

“Despite efforts to save the man’s life, he has sadly since died of his injuries. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik, of the Major Crime Unit said: “We believe the incident started at approximately 11.20pm in Ridgefield Road before moving into Southfield Road and involved a number of people.
