Today the JBL audio brand celebrates 70 years of music. The company, founded by James Bullough Lansing, is now one of the oldest American audio companies.

From revolutionary recordings, legendary concerts like Woodstock, record-breaking rock tours to iconic sports events like The Olympics, JBL has been there for big moments in music and audio innovation.

As a celebration, here are some of those historic moments…

Worldwide, you will hear JBL loudspeakers at more than half of all motion picture theatres and large audience events. Custom extendable support towers enabled the audio crew to distribute multiple large arrays throughout the massive audience for President George W. Bush’s first inauguration (image)

80% of live concerts and 70% of all recording studios feature JBL products. VerTec arrays set up for the Eric Clapton concert in May 2004 are shown here at the Royal Albert Hall (Clapton image)

In the car, JBL collaborates with a range of car manufacturers. JBL Professional is the choice sound system for Ferrari since 2008  (Ferrari Image)

JBL and Toyota have extended a 20-year partnership by delivering JBL sound to the new Toyota C-HR, or Coupé High-Rider. The tailor-made JBL premium audio, precisely tuned to the interior, comprises an 8-channel, 576 Watt DSP stereo amplifier and nine high-performance speakers delivering crisp and clear sound. It also includes two newly-designed acoustic JBL wave guides, known as ‘horn tweeters’, that increase the sound dispersion (Toyota C-HR image)

To celebrate it has created limited edition Everest Elite 700 headphones that feature Bluetooth, JBL’s sound calibration and active noise cancellation and will be available from JBL.com  Platinum).
