The first Olympic athletic wear made entirely from condom material has been created by designer Pauline Van Dongen as an alternative to latex.

The revolutionary material benefits from biomimicry, which works with your skin to temperature adjust for the ultimate performance weapon. Streamlined and close fitting, the new suit lets athletes feel everything to allow for ultimate precision and performance. The concept outfit for future Olympic athletes is leaps ahead of its time, with the rubber-like material creating vents in the upper arms for optimum aerodynamics.

The news comes as the International Olympic Committee set the first record of Rio 2016 ordering the largest ever shipment of 450,000 condoms to the athletes’ village – 42 per athlete.

Jeyan Heper, President and General Manager, Sexual Wellness Global Business Unit at Ansell saidL “In the world of competitive sports, athletes look for every advantage, and we knew our SKYNFEEL condom material was revolutionary in our own industry, therefore we turned to the world of performance athletics and decided to conduct an experiment in apparel. We wanted to allow ourselves to think differently, outside of our own condom box.”

To create the one-of-a-kind concept garment, SKYN Condoms partnered with fashion designer Pauline Van Dongen, whose wearable technology creations have won wide acclaim. “Experiments like this can point the way to the future,” says Van Dongen. “For me, SKYNFEEL APPAREL is about challenging the status quo, trying something totally new, daring to innovate, imagine and inspire.”
