Ed Davey has labelled Nigel Farage the “Enoch Powell of the social media age” after the Reform leader published a Substack essay claiming Britain is a “two-tier state.”
Over the weekend, Farage published an online essay titled ‘Britain Is A Two Tier State – Against White People.’
The Clacton MP vowed to “repeal the Equality Act” if Reform got into power and repeated inflammatory claims following the murder of Henry Nowak.

Farage went on to argue that areas such as housing, healthcare, education and the workplace were all affected by “deeply anti-white racism.”
One of his main announcements in the essay was that a Reform government would evict all foreign nationals from social housing.
Farage said foreign nationals in social housing would be given a three-month grace period to relocate to private rented accommodation, or lose their right to remain in the country and be liable for deportation.
The essay has sparked condemnation from political opponents, including Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey.
In a post on X, he said Farage had become the “Enoch Powell of the social media age.”
Powell infamously gave his “Rivers of Blood” speech in 1968 when he was a Tory shadow minister. The speech was hugely controversial and was blamed for inflaming racial tensions at the time.
Davey accused Farage of “trying to excuse racist disorder and violence against police officers,” adding: ““He’s pushing the politics of grievance and division that goes totally against our fundamental British values of tolerance and decency.”
In a follow-up post, the Lib Dem leader questioned why Farage was choosing to make policy announcements in online essays instead of holding a his press conference.
He theorised that perhaps this might have something to do with Farage’s unwillingness to face the press following the revelation that he received a secret £5m gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne.
