Nick Robinson was taking no nonsense from Robert Jenrick after the Reform MP accused him of asking a “pre-scripted question” during an interview.
On Tuesday morning, Jenrick appeared on Radio 4’s Today programme where he was interviewed by Robinson.
This was in the wake of Ann Widdecombe’s death, which Reform voices such as Jenrick have been keen to use as proof that they face more of a security threat than politicians from other parties.

In particular, there has been much talk from Reform about how the attack on Widdecombe shows that party leader Nigel Farage requires more security.
Jenrick have hit out at the government, accusing them of not providing Farage with an adequate level of security. This was followed by a report in the i Paper on Tuesday which revealed Farage had in fact turned down an offer of taxpayer-funded security last year.
After requesting that Jenrick stop talking for a second so he can ask him a question, Robinson put it to the Newark MP that some may see Reform’s response as an attempt to distract from the controversy facing Farage over the £5m gift he received from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne.
Jenrick responded by accusing Robinson of reading a “pre-scripted question,” but Robinson was having none of it.
As Jenrick claimed Robinson had been reading from a piece of paper, the journalist explained the paper simply had a quote from Zia Yusuf on it.
“There’s no such question on the paper,” he told Jenrick.
Sharing the audio clip on social media, broadcaster Narinder Kaur described it as a “must listen” piece of radio.
