Theresa May should take some notes on how to get the Brexit negotiators onside and hopefully get a better deal for the UK. Corbyn was using the carrot rather than stick method when he met with the EU’s Brexit team.

The Labour leader made a bid to charm the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier. He decided to give Mr Barnier an Arsenal shirt, with the official’s name printed on the back.

Both Mr Corbyn and his Shadow Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer are Gunners fans.

The trio were invited to meet Mr Barnier, who has said key demands from both the Tory and Labour sides are “not possible”, alongside Scottish and Welsh leaders Nicola Sturgeon and Carwyn Jones.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
