A British minister looks like he has joined growing criticism of Trump’s decision to miss an Armistice memorial event on Saturday due to heavy rain.

Defence Minister Tobias Ellwood wrote on Twitter,  “rain did not prevent our brave heroes from doing their job”.

Mr Trump cancelled a visit to a US military cemetery in France, citing bad weather. Many people took to Twitter to share their views on the President’s decision.

And he wasn’t the only one to have a pop at Trump…

As a duel National I’m sorry to read this.
Rain was a regular feature on the Western Front. Thankfully it did not prevent our brave heroes from doing their job. https://t.co/2wd6Yq9VK3

They died with their face to the foe and that pathetic inadequate @realDonaldTrump couldn’t even defy the weather to pay his respects to The Fallen #hesnotfittorepresenthisgreatcountry

Did the President really not visit the American military cemetery today in France? It is his duty to honor our soldiers who fought in 1917-18. Astonishing. https://t.co/58noTz4Fa3

Trump shall not get wet, as those who fell were wet, cold miserable
The light rain shall not weary him, nor the mist condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
Trump will not get wet ...

Trump doesn't attend Armistice 100th Anniversary because of "bad weather". Here's my Head of State, who hasn't missed a Remembrance Ceremony in 66 years, rain or shine. pic.twitter.com/FRjR3BJKXO

.@POTUS44 When in office and amid torrential rain @BarackObama paid tribute to the fallen during Armistice Remembrance in Northern France. @POTUS Trump however has "dishonored" U.S. servicemen by canceling his attendance due to ‘inclement weather’. pic.twitter.com/32iJSlKezU
