Government strips Shamima Begum’s British citizenship.
The Government are seeking an order “depriving” Shamima Begum of her British Citizenship.
In a Tweet her solicitor said: “Family are very disappointed with the Home Office’s intention to have n order made depriving Shamima of her citizenship.
“We are considering all legal avenues to challenge this decision.”
ITV have obtained the letter which was sent from the Home Office, it read “Please find enclosed papers that relate to a decision taken by the Home Secretary, to deprive your daughter, Shamima Begum, of her British citizenship.”
“In light of the circumstances of your daughter, the notice of the Home Secretary’s decision has been served of file today (19th February), and the order removing her British citizenship has subsequently been made.”

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.
Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
