Tommy Robinson could be sentenced to several years behind bars after he was convicted of harassing two journalists to the point that they feared violence.

This week, Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was found guilty of two counts of harassment causing fear of violence against Daily Mail journalists Andrew Young and Jacob Dirnhuber at Southwark Crown Court.

The charges stemmed from a series of threatening messages, social media posts and a phone call in August 2024, following the newspaper’s reporting on Robinson’s activities during the UK’s summer riots.

The far-right agitator used “bully-boy, intimidatory tactics” towards the journalists after the publication of an article revealing that Robinson was staying at a hotel in Cyprus while posting online about the Southport murders.

Robinson hired private investigators to locate the journalists’ home addresses, posted angry messages on social media, and in a phone call on 5 August 2024 told Young he would visit his house, saying: “I’m coming to get you.”

Both men feared for their safety with Dirnhuber and his partner having to leave their home as a result of Robinson’s intimidatory behaviour.

Following his conviction on the charges, Robinson is now facing the prospect of time behind bars.
