A Serbian television station has apologised to the public for its biased reporting and coverage of now-former leader Aleksander Vučić.
Last weekend, Vučić was ousted from office after 12 years as prime minister as a student anti-corruption movement pulled off a stunning win in the country’s general election.
The Student List won 53% of the vote, giving them 141 MPs in the 250 seat Serbian parliament. Vučić’s Serbian Progressive party (SNS) won 39%, giving it 103.

Following the seismic result, there was a stunning moment on Serbian state media channel Radio Television Vojvodina, which apologised to viewers for its failure to challenge the Vučić regime, the Telegraph reports.
News anchor Goran Eror said: “For years, we failed to fulfil our duty.
“We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology.”
Student List’s ticket was based on rooting out corruption and the state capture of key institutions in Serbian society.
RTV’s acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić has announced his resignation from the channel, whilst Student List has called for senior figures in the national broadcaster to follow suit.
The channel showed footage of celebrations in the streets in the wake of the Student List win, as Eror told viewers RTV was “at the beginning of its journey to restoring public trust.
On the night of the election, RTV had stopped showing footage from Belgrade after Vučić conceded defeat, despite huge celebrations taking place through the night.
